We start at the Mekong Tours Information Bureau (at Hotel Xoai Can Tho) at 2pm. A taxi or motorbike will bring you to the family garden in Cai Son village, where you will get a bicycle. After a short ride to test that everyone is comfortable with the bikes, we will start our 15 km journey (9 miles) on the village road and explore the area.
You will see rice fields, a noodle factory, and a boat making wood workshop. You can see all this and read an interesting blog on the site spieless.home.blog. We will ride along a village path to Cai Son village and walk with your bike to cross the “monkey bridge” on foot. Here you may catch pictures of children bathing in the river and old ladies rowing boats to bring home fruits after the harvest.
Do not worry, we do not ride the whole path without making a pause. We will have a break at a lovely local garden where you can enjoy some fresh fruits and a herbal tea. The tour will end with a transfer back to the Mekong Tours Information Bureau after about 3 hours.
The terrain of the tour is gentle so this trip is suitable for most people. It is still advisable to have a modicum of fitness to enjoy yourselves. The trip is in the countryside and paths are narrow, but tracks are well surfaced. Fast cyclists can ride at their own pace, as detailed directions are available from the guide. Our route is designed to take us off the main roads as much as possible, and we explore scenic back roads and pathways on the way to all our destinations.
The tour takes place every day, but the organization is subject to weather conditions. If the tour has to be cancelled in case of heavy rain or other weather conditions tickets will be reimbursed online.
